Default Seat control cover replacement

This is the one in front under your legs that covers the power seat control unit wiring. Last week one of the clips on the driver side cover broke and the cover fell off.

Thanks to Pelican I have a replacement already (how is a 996 numbered part larger than a pin head only $16 ), but when I tried to put it on this morning it didn't cooperate.

The problem is the 2 pins on the outside of the clips. I can see how it is supposed to work (pins sit in the matching holes on the plate), but I can't seem to pop it on as I can't get the pins to clear the plate so they slide into place. Basically I'm not forcing it too hard as I don't want to break the clips.

Short of unbolting the seat so I don't have to be bent around like a pretzel and can see what I'm doing, is there a trick to getting this thing back on that won't result in another $16 to Pelican?

If I remember correctly, moving the seat all the way up and when you put it on you put the lower portion on first and then clip the top portion. Basically, clip the bottom on and roll the top over to fit the pins into the plate.

Good prices and good help

Thanks. I'll try it when I head home.

Your trick didn't work for me, but I did finally get it on. Turns out there was enough play that I could get one end on at a time rather than trying to do both at the same time.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Appreciate the help.
