Default Locked Out!

So my drivers door handle disconnected from the mechanism, think it is a common issue as read about others with same problem.
Problem is I left the car locked with alarm on for past 2 weeks and now the fob doesn't work, in order to make it work I have to open the drivers door with the key and turn on the ignition to reset it but I can't open the door.... And using the key it only unlocks the drivers door not the passenger door.

Any other ideas or any other way to get the fob to start working'?
Thanks!

Can't you turn the key to the right and hold to roll the windows down, then dukes of hazard in and start it?

Thought of this. Had not tried on my 996 before but worked on other cars. Doesn't work unfortunately. Maybe alarm has to be off before it works.

Back to the drawing board ....

Are you sure your battery isn't dead? Turning the key to unlock position will trigger unlock at least, but I think it electronically actuated.

Yes if it sits for > week the key fob stops working and you need to physically unlock the car and the fob will work again.

I fear this happening so if my car sits I leave the hood and rear ajar so I can get to some jump points. That doesn't really help you now though.

What about using the cable release for the front or rear and attaching a battery jumper to either the rear jumping points or the battery at the front if you can get them open?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose by keeping the compartment lights on and running the battery down?

Get a battery maintainer that plugs into the cig lighter.

No, the lights go out when the hood is popped up but not open.

If you physically unlock with the key, you can then lock again with the fob to stop the alarm from triggering. The fob will then function as normal again.

Good point, I always unplug them. The front turns off after 2 hours but I disconnect it anyway

I do have a ctek but I can't plug it into the cig lighter as my car is Aus delivered and its not constant. I have the ctek wired to the battery with cable connector instead.
