Default Rennline Tow Hook - New 04 C4S

Good Day All - I have been around here in the past and I am back with my latest purchase, a 2004 C4S Cabriolet, Arctic Silver w/Black Interior, 75k. I am psyched to be back in a 996 and why I ever sold my 2000 I'll never know. I live in the midwest so my first priority was snow tires. Out of panic I ended up purchasing black Sport Edition Cup 4 wheels with Dunlap Winter Sport 3D tires from TireRack.com. I say out of panic because pickings are slim this time of year and it is my daily. Great price and I love the look. So far so good. Of course a couple photos below.

Question: I have a tow hook from Rennline that fit my old 2000 C2. I tried to put it into my new C4S and it seemed to big. Do you have to use a lot of pressure to get it in (this is not a joke)? Rennline says it should fit! Thoughts and thanks in advance?

Cheers!

Got it, thanks JayG. A little hair and anti-seize lube.

all seriousness aside, I believe the tow hooks are the same. Not 100% sure
Did you check to see if anything was stuck in the threads like the frunk emergency release cable?

The threads should be the same, check for corrosion, or foreign matters, or damage to the threads in the receptacle.

Worst case you will have to find a tap with the right thread to "chase" the receptacle and clean it up.

You might also check to see if you're lining it up properly. I know with both my 993 and 996 the tow hook had to go in at a very slight angle (pointed just slightly towards the passenger side) instead of going in straight to work.

Those threads are coarse enough it shouldn't be an issue getting the toe hook threaded into the bumper. If it's not going in, there's an issue. Check the threads in the bumper. Maybe PO tied installing another tow how and damaged them.

On some (like mine) the bumper cover sits a little low, so it feels like it won't thread in. Lift the bumper cover (pretty fair amount of force) as you screw it in. It's what works for me...
