Default Michelin Rocks!

I have to give Michelin a shout out

Our 04 Targa has Pilot Sport A/S-3 tires and the rears are wore down to slicks after only 11k miles. They have a tread life warranty of 45k and since it is staggered sizes, they cut that in half.

Now the warranty is only to the original purchaser and since I bought the car last year with those tires I should be SOL.

I called Michelin and spoke with their warranty dept. Excellent cust service skills. I told them the situation and I was asked if they could put me on hold for a minute or 2 so he could check and see what they could do for me.

He came back and told me they would do the adjustment just like I was the original purchaser! WooHoo. I just need to pay 40% of the replacement cost. Great deal

Now the 2nd problem, the size I have 275/30/19 are on nationwide backorder and wont be available until mid to late Jan 2016. Ok, I can go with 285/30/19 and those are at the local warehouse. Only problem, they are $35 more per tire

I call Michelin again, tell then the situation that bigger available tires have a 10% higher cost and after a brief hold, they adjusted the adjustment and now I have to only pay 30% of the replacement cost. Frickin incredible!

Now that is what I call customer service and a company that obviously cares about customer retention and goodwill.

I may have to rethink what tires I go with next time I need new tires

Wow, that's awesome news. It's also nice to hear praise for a manufacturer. All too often posts revolve around negative experiences. Congrats on a great deal for new tires!

Perhaps most shocking is that they warranty a performance tire for 45k miles!

I've never seen that and am surprised because in the years I've had my 996 I've never seen more than 10k out of a pair of rear tires.

So it sounds like we should be using Michelin tires to get them at the adjusted cost once they've worn out?

That's what I was thinking too, it seems like I never get over 10-15k miles out of my rear tires.

The A/S 3 is an all season tire 500 TW. Normal warranty is 45k, but with staggered setup they cut it in half to 27,500. PS2's are 20 k mileage so 10k staggered. If worn out in 10 k no adjustment

WooHooo
Got the new tires put on today.
Total cost for both with mounting, balancing, stems, tax and disposal $250!

The new ones are not nearly as noisy as well

Ya I had the "warranty" with my PSS and they did the same thing, it wasn't quite as good of a deal (I had to pay 80%) of the tire cost, but that is ok, I got 10k miles and after their 50% for staggered thing it worked out to be 12k or so miles.

The best part is, Discount Tire did the calling and leg for for the warranty, so that made my purchase even better.

Belle Tire wouldn't sell me PSS, they said Michelin wouldn't do anything for the warranty because the 911 is a "performance car" lol well it is a performance tire I said. They went on to say, PSS are NOT n-rated and they are legally not allowed to sell me anything but the OEM tires. I laughed and said I'll take my money across the st and they'll help me like they did the last 6 years in a row ( I buy at least 1 set of tires a year, more often than not 2 sets).
