Default $25 car cover

Since winter is coming and it looks like we will have a wet winter even here in San Diego, I was thinking about getting a car cover for the Targa as is lives outside.

I came across this thread on the 986 forum
http://986forum.com/forums/general-d...most-fits.html

I ordered one, it came in about 1.5 weeks and put it on the Targa
As the OP said, it fits the front well and is a little big in the back. Since the 996 is a little bigger than a Boxster, I thought I would give it a try

Yes, the front is a little tight around the mirrors and it is a little big in the back, but for $25, its a winner!
If you have a wing, it probably will be a perfect fit. Even thought it is big in the back, the elastic tucks under the car well.

It would also make a great indoor cover

It is a high quality cover and much better than the $50 generics that are around. It is also very light weight and easy to store

Just a FYI, the amazon link from the 986 forums is no longer $25 but $366. :wow:

If anyone knows where we can get the same cover for $25, please post a link. I may need one for the 2002tii.

TIA

If you're willing to spend $41 on your Porsche car cover go to Ebay. I purchased a "5 layer" Auto Armour car cover advertised for Porsche 996. For $41 delivered to my house I am very happy with the cover. It does not "fit like a glove" but it does fit fairly well. Again, for $41 delivered I would rate it a best buy. A+ I honestly don't know how they make these car covers for the price of two tee shirts, deliver them, and make money.

I had both a "4 layer" and "5 layer" silver outdoor covers from eBay for another car but the problem in my situation at least from being parked outside year round, was that it deteriorated and started falling apart after the first year. You could start seeing small holes eventually in it.

How long have you had your particular one and does it sit outside all the time?
