Right now I jack the back one side and place the stand at the front same side. Repeat on the opposite side. Then jack the back middle and add the back stands. Jacking in the middle at the rear is where I dropped my boo boo by pushing the jack an inch or so further than necessary.

Hurdi, I hope you're not jacking the engine as that will create a lot of stress on the engine mounts, the oil pump housing, and the engine case. When you jack the engine, the engine case lifts the engine bracket via four M10 studs. The engine bracket then lifts the engine mounts, which then lift the rear chassis (>1,000lb). The 4 studs go through the oil pump housing also so they may also add stress to the oil pump housing, which houses the IMS plain bearing side (opposite side of the IMSB).

It's pretty easy to back the 996 onto the ramps (my car runs on bumpy Northeast roads and is not lowered), and the ramps provide a lot of clearance. If I need the car level, I usually put the ramps under whichever end I'm working on, then jack the other end to level it out.

+1 for the Rhino ramps. My 996 backs onto them with no problem. The Corvette, on the other hand, with its extended snout, needs some coaxing and scrap lumber to get up on the ramps.
