Clear Headlights Again!!!
This has been on my To Do list for a while. I used the Simoniz kit for a hand drill. Quite pleased with the results - not perfect, but much much better than the yellow look they were getting.
A few pics below.
Next on the list is the climate control LCD screen replacement. Was a bit ambitious thinking I would get that done this weekend too.
The headlight lens polish took about 3 hours from start to finish, including a quick wash. Plus there was a great PCA drive on the Sea to Sky highway this morning. A Lava Orange GT3RS showed up! The day was almost gone already.
So, I am doing all these minor maintenance and cosmetic fixes because I plan to put my 996 up for sale soon. Still on the To Do list, in addition to the LCD screen are new windshield, respray hood and RF fender and bumper (insurance covers hood and fender), install right side muffler (already have the replacement), leather repair to driver's seat outside bolster. I think that is about it. Not sure if I'll be able to part with it once all is done though.
He just loves to be in the picture.
Just had to include the *** shot.

What's next after the 996?

I convinced myself that I need a Mezger engine after losing a M96 to an IMSB failure. A 996 GT3 would be my 1st choice but they are priced through the roof right now. The 996 TT has the same engine and is a great value. Plus I hear it is quite easy to remove the front drive train and turn it into a RWD. Suspension needs to be upgraded too, but then you got a very fast track car!

Keep the AWD on the turbo, otherwise you have a GT2, aka " widow maker ".

I used the Mothers kit yesterday on the X5. Overall, not super impressed. I forgot I needed to get the one that has a clear cloat final layer - the Sylvania has this, most dont
I think you need to start with a 400 then 800 then 1500 then 3k followed by clear coat for best results.
looks great by the way!

Thanks!
Mine weren't too bad but just starting to yellow. I started with the 2000 grit pad and then the polishing compound (800 and 1000 grit pads are included but I didn't use them). The clear coat wasn't included in the Simoniz kit but I used the Meguiar's finish and it turned out pretty good.
