Default Rear of 2001 911

All - should the rear emblem on a 2001 911 say Carrera or 911? Thank you

Could be either. Stock is Carrera, but during the ordering process you have the option to request 911.

However, all 40th Anniversay editions have 911 in the back and in the center console. They're not 2001 though.

It's been a long time, but I don't recall that option when we ordered ours. The default was Carrera or Carrera 4, or you could select the delete option to remove it. I think the 911 build option came later.

A previous owner could have switched the rear badge.

I thought 911 was only on the 40th AE.

Could be, I was really just responding with what I recall being the available option for MY01.

The rear badge is just stick-on. Easy to remove/replace.

I had to replace the badge on my 986 after someone vandalized it.

I think the original location of the badge is down lower on the deck lid, like so:
