Default The $8500 996 purchase?

I know the car he is referring to. It was the blue car a gentleman on here was trying to sell a while ago, he sold it to what he called a friend, and then told the horror story of having to buy it back after his friend took it to a shop and they told him it needed all this crazy stuff done. I'm on the side with the original seller.

Yeah, knowing the back story from the seller's perspective, reading that article made me throw up in my mouth a little. After hearing the original story, I assumed the buyer was a bit of a douche. His article confirmed it. You could take practically every 1999 Porsche to a mechanic who could come up with $5,000 in work to recommend. And if the buyer can't diagnose and repair a freaking window regulator himself, he has no business writing articles on any kind of performance vehicle, much less owning said vehicle. If he is going to write about cars, stick to giving advice to ladies on what quick lube shop has the most up to date editions of Cosmo.
And for the record, many titles don't have the car model listed, just the year, make and VIN. So getting the titles confused for 2 same year Porsches would be easy to do.

Oh, two more things. Fast40th, beautiful car.
Also, you should tell the buyer that he owes the seller a beer and an apology. The buyer clearly had no clue what he was doing buying that car. The seller bailed him out. If the buyer is harboring any illusions that the seller sold him a lemon at that mileage and price point and had any ethical or legal obligation to buy that car back, he is delusional. The seller is too nice to point that out, but he should hear it from someone.

I remember the story and the seller was a gentleman who valued friendship, however hopeless of a friendship. Enough said!

The nerve of this jackass writing an article like that. The forum post from the buyer reads like a completely different tale. I think the sellers post rang far closer to the truth. Can't believe that idiot bought a cheap 996 and thought he could jump in and drive without addressing any issues.

So here's the story with my eye candy... Link

What a "buddy" publishing your car as an $8500 example, but well this are the expectations of most of the buyers outside pay no more than $10000 and get a car like yours

I remember the story as well, what a douche, after getting his money back and everything the seller did for him, he went ahead and make this article; this is preposterous.

Says the guy who wrote this??? :

That's a $1600-$3000 bill depending on who does it, and what else needs to be done while you're in there. I would pass on this for anything more than $11,000. People are going to argue with me, but that is solely my purchasing opinion.
Well Kab1994 or should I call you Yoav Gilad you seem like the kind of guy who will write an article like this for a "friend".

The buyer who purchased a 996 for $8500 bucks was a complete A$@. At $8500 another $5,000 to be invested to bring the car to a good place would be automatic. He also can't claim he didn't know anything about cars. He should have been kicked in the nuts after returning the car.

I can't believe the level of stupidity some people have and to actually publish an article glorifying their stupidity.

Buyer is a just a Moron. I can go on but I mean seriously who buys a car and does not check the title paperwork to the cars vin? Case and point!

I don't understand why people think buying a cheap sports car is going to risk free. These cars were $80K+ when new, and have to be maintained like $80K+ cars. Of course, if you're mechanically inclined, you can reduce your maintenance costs, but don't expect to buy a 996 for dirt cheap and be surprised when a mechanic tells you it needs $X,000 worth of work.

In other words. There's nothing more expensive than a cheap German car.

How can someone who is "a car designer by training" be so clueless? He buys a 15-year-old sports car for several grand below market, and it needs work. Wow, I'm shocked.

What a putz.

And this ladies and gentlemen is the reason why Cerex and others will post classified ads a certain way or in a certain tone. People have to be diligent in weeding out douchebags like this.

Talk about adding insult to injury, sheesh. Wonder if the dude is a millennial by chance(flame suit on)...
