I use a PanaVise custom in-dash mount: http://panavise.com/pdf_indash/75132-198.
Then I put a Scosche magnetic mount ( ) on the PanaVise using the 2 sided tape. Then I carefully drilled 4 holes through the Scosche mounting plate in line with the holes on the PanaVise. Inserted and tightened 4 screws and nuts with a bit of thread locker. The steel plate from the Scosche goes between the back of the phone and the phone case.
Rock solid...

In all seriousness, Waze is the best radar detector...and the only one that is legal in my jurisdiction. So mounting a phone where I can see it is of vital importance.
My mount can be seen here. Just pan left, zoom and Enhance.

You just don’t know when...so be ready!
Could we please stop focusing on minutiae like car phone holders and get to what’s really important...OIL! I’ve found my Kenu holds 1 bottle in a very useful place. For those of you wondering, yes, only the back of the bottle is carbon-wrapped. I didn’t want my spare oil reservoir looking too ostentatious. Should I paint the bottle to match exterior?

Just ordered Kenu wireless charging vent-mounted phone holder. Main attraction is the wireless charging with no cable fiddling. Doubt I will like the vent mount aspect, and expecting I will either return it, or MacGyver it to something based further down and to the right of the center console area.

[UPDATE: now just getting click-happy on Amazon. Found this one which I ordered as well. Something's going back!]

I keep mine on the passenger seat and if I have a passenger I keep it in the center cubby.
I'm blown away that as late as 2002, there were people who thought a hardwired car phone was a good idea.

The great thing about the hard wired phones was the range.. In rural areas they stomped any handheld,, they were 2 watts out not 200mw....
Heck my old motorola digital brick seemed like you could reach mars compared to my Iphone..

Using factory phone console for modern phone integration
Hi everyone
I'm reactivating this thread b/c I'm very interested in this factory setup; more precisely the console trim part of it.
I find the larger side trim very useful for mounting any type of phone holder, hiding a BT module inside, accessing charging cable thru the side port & even fitting Aux & USB ports nicely..
this is a project I'm planning for the car & I'll be grateful if someone could help with providing part#s for this console setup in Savannah Beige.
sharing any similar projects is also highly appreciated..
