Condition my 996 leather dash or not?
Greetings,
I have the full leather package in my 996 Cab and I'm curious to know if fellow owners condition their leather dashboards. If so, what do you use?
My dash is looking king of dull compared to my recently conditioned seats.
Thanks for any and all opinions/suggestions!

I do our dash about every 4 months (salesman said it needed to be done monthly) with Effax leather balsam, which can be gotten at tack (saddlery) stores. I've also used Lexol and was happy with it, but like the Effax better. The effax has lanolin, avocado oil and beeswax........

As an emollient it did wonders for softening and healing some extensive facial abrasions for me from an auto accident.
I would guess you would also need a substance to filter UV rays on the dash.

I use Pinnacle Leather Conditioner preceeded by their Leather Cleaner every couple months.
Our car is a daily driver that sits out in the sun, so I feel its worth thaking the time to do it as much as I can.

I personally use Lexol, but as long as you use a proper LEATHER conditioner it will be fine.
DO NOT under any circumstances use Armor-All or ANY other silicone-containing product on ANY dash. Silicone solutions react particularly poorly with hot vinyl - the very thing that they are supposed to be "good" for. Silicone + chemicals in vinyl + heat = offgassing. You will get a nasty film on your windshield and the life of the vinyl will be reduced significantly (cracks, etc...)
Sorry for the tangent, but I thought y'all should know.
