I had springs, shocks and sways installed. Alignment done. Nothing needed to get the camber.

Default Suspension upgrade time

Hi,

I have a 04 C4S Cab with 78k miles.

Last week I upgraded the suspension for Bilstein B8 + H&R lowering springs (red - lower 1 inch).

Replaced every bush possible with powerflex bushes. Also did the motor mounts (oem).

Had a hard time to align the car.

The tech used the C4S X73/74 (-20mm) (non US) reference values in the Hunter alignment machine software.

Each time he played with toe, he would mess with camber and vice-versa.

To get the 0º toe front, camber was -1º.

To get the 0º10 toe rear, camber was -2º

So ended up with plus half a degree of negative camber front + back to have the remaining parameters right.

So I do think it's needed to have adjustable toe links at the rear at least.

Did a 500 mile trip in the twisties and the ride is fantastic in terms of handling. It will wear the inside of the tires faster but I am not worried, it's not a DD, just does 3.000 miles a year...

CS.

@narkose - If you do upgrade, I really do love KW suspension. In extensive driving tests their engineers have set the dampers for the best balance between sporty driving, comfort and safety. For the price of the V3's though, I might suggestion Ohlins here. H&R street coils are another viable option as well. If you're not looking really for a track application coil, I'd stick to KW or maybe the H&R coils.

I noticed on the Pelican Parts the H&R springs for the Coupe C2 are different then the Cab, curious as to the difference. I would have thought the cars would use the same springs.

Most likely due to weight, as the cab is heavier.

I think the rear shock mounting is a little different too.

Yes, they are different due to, I believe, weight difference between the Cabrio and Coupe.

I am guessing the end result is the ride will be similarly stiff? My cab is definitely softer than I like. I am thinking this may be a winter project though I would prefer only a 1" drop instead of the 1.25" as the adjustable toe parts are outrageous in price for what you are getting.

With ROW M030 factory sport suspension, euro spec, I have had no issues getting it aligned to factory specs. I'm thinking about getting a slightly more aggressive alignment next.

If you don't frequently track the car, get some ksport coilovers.
