Default Radar Detector Suction Cups

I have a passport 8500 and i remember that it said something about the suction cups harming the windshields in some cars (i believe it mentioned porsche specifically) in the users manual. It had something to do with a film on the glass.

Does anyone know anything about this, since i just received a V1 for a brand new C4S. it doesn't say anything in it's users manual, but i don't want to do any damage to the glass.

I asked the same question last year. I believe this was on the older Porsches, circa 993 or older. These reportedly had permanent anti-fog film on the inside that would get permanently marked by the suction cups. Not on the 996's. I've had mine on for over a year, stuck right on the middle, jsut to the right of the windshield antenna wire. No marks or blemishes of any kind.

I love the 8500. Ample early warning on all radar bands, has saved my butt numerous times. Even picked up laser directed at another car. That laser warning is LOUD!!! Minimal false alarms too.

The suction cups on my V1 won't hold anymore. It's only about a year old. Has anyone else had this problem? A solution?

Two options on the V-1....take them off and soak them in warm soapy water. Air dry. Clean windshield and let dry. Try again.

Or...contact V-1 and order replacements. If I remember correctly, mine came with two sets in the past also.
