I don't have a lot room on the Bosch ones, but I can do $38.65 each on them.

Just curious are Beru and Bosch made in Germany? Recently I saw lots of parts from major OEM outsourced to China.

I definitely wonder this as well. One time I found some sloppy machining on the threads of a Bosch oil filter where they didn't clean off the loose metal debris. I was shocked to say the least.

But since Porsche is owned by VW now, I'd also be scared on sub-assemblies being assembled in Mexico as well.

Both Beru & Bosch 996 ignition coils are still made in Germany as of today.

Thanks for the verification. Do you know if any of their other parts are made in China though?

I honestly haven't seen any yet, I have heard some are made in China though.
All the Bosch parts I have seen have been made in Germany, Czech or EU.

Does the 2002 require the longer bolts on the coils? I have read in a few forums where people said they were too long on the mk-2.

The Bosch coils are for the 2002-2008.

Crashclint, you do not need the longer bolts on these coils.

I am not sure, as far as I know the coils in my car are original from 2002. I had just seen on another forum people didn't need the longer bolt in their 02 but not sure if they had replaced their coils somewhere along the line to the newer style. I guess at about 60 cents a bolt I may as well get the new ones just in case.

According to my parts catalogs you only need the longer bolts for part # 997 602 104 02, the Beru and Bosch coils are part # 997 602 104 00.

A word of caution - if your coils are original, then the bolts may be weakened significantly. Be careful when removing them - the heads will shear off and it can be a royal pain to remove the remaining bolt from the engine.

Take it nice and easy and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the advice Spruden, A friend owns a body shop and has offered his lift for the whole day so if it takes me 6-8 hours I don't mind. Hmm, I should get him to respray my rear bumper while it is off.
