Future 996 plans

Future 996 plans
Well, I am on vacation with the family (except my son) he had class and got to stay home and guard the house and dog. This may be the longest andoat irrelevant post ever.
Anyway, in Myrtle Beach sitting by myself drunk at the bar contemplating the future. I have been trying to decide what the future holds for my transportation needs. I have looked at getting a second 996 (for the kids to drive - at least that is what I told me wife). I've looked at a 2005 997 - cheap and easy. A 2006 997 carrera 4 for all conditions. Just actually looked at a 2013 carrera 4 - there are lots of these for sale now - must be coming off lease. Actually test drove it and made an offer, but someone else came by soon after and paid sticker. Debating whether I need more than 300hp. Looked at a 996 turbo. But I dont even approach the limits of my car. Though I do get to test the high speed handling once a month on the way to work. I price out carbon fiber and a new stereo for my car to a tune of about $4000. Then I see 997 turbos, which by the way are the same price as a 997 c4s. Then looked at the 997.2's to get rid of IMS issues. But then see that 2006+ are really immune from the problem. Then look at used 3.4's and want to get a spare engine and send it to Jake for an upgrade next year when he has time. Then debate about just getting a lift and a used 3.4 and replacing the plugs, AOS, water pump, etc and have it waiting in the garage when my car hits 100K and just swap motors. Then I realize I am indecisive and may have a drinking problem. Then I see 2012 991's in the 60K range and think I may just do that. Makes the most sense economically. But then I debate whether I need full leather on a 991.
But this is my main problem. With all the other 911's I have seen/looked at/drove, my car still makes me smile every time I drive it. And I end up where I started.
My conclusion is I need to drink less. And no one else in the world can follow my thought pattern. But I am betting some of you can follow this.

Keep drinking, and start shopping! eBay! You could Buy It Now and pick it up when you're sober!
Do it! Do it NOW! You know you want to. Your wife won't mind. It's only money. You can't take it with you!
Oddly, I'm considered an instigator by my friend. No idea why.
BUY IT! UNLESS YOU'RE NOT MAN ENOUGH!

I look at my 996 like I do with my $9.99 Tool Shop grinder. I have Milwaukee, Dewalt, Bosch, Porter Cable, Makita tools in my arsenal but damn that Tool Shop grinder has served me really well considering the price I paid and it's still going strong and one of the tools I've used very often to get me out of jams.
I bought my 996 in cash even though I could've gotten a 997, but this was my first Porsche and I wanted to start off small with a "starter" car. My intent was to get used to the rear drivetrain layout and upgrade a year later. This was 5 years ago and I really don't have the inclination or justification to get anything new, especially living in a urban type environment. Now if I was living in the vast lands of Tx or something, I might be more inclined to get something more powerful.

7 beers before noon...I'm not sure if you're a lousy bum or my hero. Maybe both.
On the plus side, it's early enough that you can pass out for a few hours, wake up, and do it all over again.
