Default M030 Sway Bar - Incorrect Part?

Hi folks,

Vehicle in question is a 2004 996 C2 coupe in manual. I purchased a set of used M030 front and rear sway bars from an RL member a while back. Edit: This came off a C4 coupe with manual transmission.

Car is at the shop today and said the rear will fit, but the front won't? Is something wrong? The bars came off what I believe is a C4 coupe with manual transmission. Top two bars are the front, the black one being the M030 sway bar. The one in the middle is stock. Thanks!

Mike

C2 and C4 sway bars are different. Although some have managed to get aftermarket C2 or GT3 front sway bars to work with C4/C4s by using C shaped end links, I don't think anyone has gone the other way of fitting C4 to C2.

Ah, darn it.

Alright. I guess I'll have to put these up for sale!

I've actually got exactly the opposite problem. I have a M030 sway bar for a C2 and I need one for a C4. Maybe we could trade?

Win/Win for a minimal cost of shipping.

If this really is the case, I may have to buy the lottery!

OK, here's what I've got. I believe these to be M030 sway bars for a C2, but I don't know that for sure so I'm hoping someone can confirm whether bcrdukes and I have what the other needs.

Thanks to anyone that can help us figure this out.

Yes the top bar is a front sway bar for a C2

I can't quite tell the difference - what is unique about the front sway bar between the C2 and C4?

Also, my rear sway bar looks a bit funny compared to tooloud10's. Is something wrong?

Look for a green dot on each sway bar. M030 sway bars have green dots on them and both are fatter than the stock ones. The rear sway bar looks strange that the middle is bent. The M030 sway should look straight in the middle section. The front bar also doesn't look fatter than your stock bar.

I noticed this too on second glimpse but was looking at it on my phone so wasn't sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Look at the ends where the sway bar end links attaches to. The C4 is curved while the C2 is straight.

Shame on me.

I should have inspected these upon receiving them, but this was last year. No point in airing dirty laundry now.

Yea, I thought my eyes are playing tricks on me too at the beginning but no way a straight can appear so bent.

Actually the stock C2 front sway bar ends should be curved, stock or RoW M030 (please see the middle bar in the OP's photo) and also the two links I included above.

More photos of C2. You can see the front bar ends need to curve to clear the lower contrl arm https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...with-pics.html

The photos of Turbo (shared by C4). You can see the front bar ends are straight and it uses a longer tie rods to connect to the struts. Also why the rear sway is bent in the middle
