Show us your Seal Grey 996
I'm not sure of the appetite/tolerance for "Show me your fill-in-the-blank" threads here, but I was hoping to see what others have done with their Seal Grey 996's. I'll admit to being a little jealous of those of you with Guard's Red, Speed Yellow, or Cobalt Blue paint as they stand out in a crowd. As much as I like my car, I feel like maybe it needs a little something extra. Short of repainting, I'm really just looking for wheel/trim options to possibly spruce it up a bit.
So, if you've got a Seal Grey 996 you wouldn't mind sharing a pic of, that would be awesome. To get things started, here's mine in it's current state. Nothing 'wrong' with it, just feel like it could use a little sumthin-sumthin. Black wheels? UPDATE: I should mention I've already replaced the pumpkins so we can check that box off. The pic I put up was a month or so old. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1fb61d38e.jpeg |
Aerokit, lowered with H&R springs, 19" black Avant Garde wheels, pumpkins gone.

If you decide you want black wheels, painting yours is always an option:

Thanks mharrison. Your car looks great. That aero kit really sets everything off.
I think I saw someone here recently plastidip their wheels to look like the ones you posted in your last pic. (Unless those are them?). I'm not sure I want to plastidip, but I do like the way those wheels look when painted black but with a little silver left showing around the lip. I'd probably go the permanent paint route. Those look pretty cool. |
One more note. There's probably an RoW M030 suspension in my future this year for the car. Car is at ~82K miles and coming due. Looking forward to a little drop in height and closing up those wheel wells that comes with it.

Those look pretty cool. I was initially looking at a black aerokit car in Atlanta with the wheels you have, but I thought it would look better with the wheels painted black. I did some research and found that pic of them painted. If I had bought that car, my wheels would have been painted like that. I really like the silver lip. Honestly, 100% black wheels tend to get a bit lost and blend into the tire in the shade. That silver lip sets them off. But, I stopped in Birmingham to look at the Seal Gray car on the way to Atlanta and ended up buying it and cutting my trip short. I think I made the right choice as this one was well cared for and had quite a few mods. |

Fierofly,
I came across that car in an earlier post and I followed your thread about the LS3 conversion. I think you and I are operating on very different levels of motivation and capability as far as car upgrading goes. Car looks great, and I bet it goes like crazy. I'm also immensely jealous of your garage setup. |
Great looking car. If I had the Turbo and those extra wide hips, nicer front end, and rear ducting ports, I'd probably feel less need to do anything to mine.

I love my seal grey. My other choice would be red.
I did the red calipers to contrast the grey. Seem to work well together. Mharrison, what do your black painted wheels look like on the car? I have the same ones in silver. |

Hi everyone- this is officially my first post.
Own this Baby for 1 1/2 Years now - love it every time just looking at it. |
Don't know if I qualify...Artic Silver car with Seal Grey duck tail. Was going to paint it but have had several compliments on contrast so decided to keep it. If not, the 928 should cover the Seal Grey requirement ;)

My 2002 Cab w/6=speed manual, 68,000 miles. My daily driver and it runs incredibly well!
Pic taken in Pescadero, CA between Half Moon Bay, CA and Santa Cruz. Highway 1: http://imgur.com/dbNCOvO BTW, I haven't figured out yet how to get the image to appear instead of a link to it. Just left Photobucket after their attempted $400 holdup and moved my pics to IMGUR. Any help with this is most appreciated! Bill |
either save pic to hard drive and browse device to select photo or get URL & add it in this line of code:

thx tony!
In all fairness, I think the "seal grey" is a very nice color. I probably like it more than the overly used Arctic Silver Met. I saw a C4S in seal grey and it was down right beau-T-ful!!! |

Sorry in advance for crashing the party; I hope this doesn't warrant a flame.
I'm a huge fan of Seal Gray. This is my 986 on 19" 987 Cayman lobster claws. Photo was taken near the top of Squaw Pass in Clear Creek County, Colorado, about 20 minutes from my home. I'm currently planning to add a 996 C4S or Turbo to the garage within the next 12 months to complement this 986 and a silver 955 CTTS. Others may think Seal Gray is boring, but I think it's classic and timeless. My 996 will likely also be Seal Gray unless I can find a super clean Lapis Blue. I plan to post a "WTB" ad in the next several months so if you have a clean C4S or Turbo (manual trans only) and thinking of selling, feel free to PM me. I'm not ready yet, but I will be soon. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...afb3fc1d3.jpeg Not a 996. |
