Default Another tire recommendation

2004 C2: Looking for new rear tires and was going to consider PSS but they only come in 285/35 18's vs. oem is 285/30 18. Anyone running the 35's? I can't imagine the 1/2 inch difference is huge in handling or clearance. I originally wanted the Dunlop Direzza ZII in the 30 height but they aren't available for some reason for a couple months. Or RE11's in the 30 height? (I have PS2's on the front with about 50% wear).

thanks for the input in advance. Dan

I should have mentioned. 95% of the car use is spirited street driving during summer only (and some spring/fall) and a bit of autox

Top three Tire Rack recommendations in order of cost:
1 Sumitomo HRZ III $550
2 Continental Extreme Contact $830
3 Bridgestone SO4 Pole Position $838 (after $70 rebate)

My local Mavis will mount and balance for $140

I'll throw in my vote for the S-04. Great tire for the price.

I haven't had a chance to auto-x on them yet, but I'm pretty confident they'll be just fine for my skill level. Turn in is great, and they seem to be wearing very well too.

Do the RS3V2 come in the size you want?

Just went to Laguna Seca with my 99 C4 with new SO4 s 19 295 30s on the rear. They did great. They are also real quiet on the highway. Total satisfied.

For me, I'd be happy sticking with PS2s.

Lots of P cars at Laguna this time. Mostly Michelin PSS tires on them. I was there with Golden Gate lotus club

Sumi's are great for "spirited" driving. Unless you're tracking the car I wouldn't spend a dime more

What are most of you finding your wear ratio front to rear is? Years ago my 993 and 964 were doing two sets of rears for each set of fronts. I didn't change types of tires until I was doing all four.

My summer tires are Nitto Invo's. I am running 315/25/19 out back and I think 225/35/19 up front.. Only put a few miles on them before I pulled them off for winter. They seem pretty good for what little I got to use them.
Yes a 315/25/19 fits a narrow body and it looks good too.

As mentioned in other posts there are plenty of good tires available however based on general research and reading I never mix different tire brands. I have also read that Porsche considers the 911 to be very sensitive to make and size of tire. As you know they designate the "N" label on select tires that are supposed to work best on a Porsche.

I just put new PS2's on my car

Matching makes of tires is frowned upon on this site but know one will back that up with data. Mix-em if ya got-em. Same with the analog dipstick versus the digital dipstick. "Convention wisdom" versus science.
