Epoxy for my new garage
#16
Also check All Garage Floors, which has a lot of good stuff.
I did my floor last year. I used Sherwin Williams commercial products. I should have spent a bit more time on prep (my floor was 20+ years old), but I got a nice outcome, all things considered. I used an epoxy (two part) with color chips, and then a clear coat over that. I probably didn't even need the clear coat.
Amen to using some non-skid product, depending on what top coat you use. Very important.

I have done several things to floors in places I have lived. I used the epoxy and was not impressed with it price vs. longevity.
I also did one garage in VCT tile (like in the grocery store) and it was the best thing I have used so far.
I also have used this oil based paint and it has held up very well AND it was less than $20 a gallon at Lowes. This is what is in my current garage. I want to do VCT tile but have not had the time.
You can kind of see the flooring with my PCar parked on its carpet

At $.50/sq ft, it is very economical too. It comes in so many colors now too compared to awhile ago when you only had a few color choices.
I'll have to give the Lowes a try on my basement shop floor as it needs to be touched up. Thanks Tim for the suggestion.

What I find lifts epoxy floors are either poor prep(poor degreasing, no acid etch, primer, etc) or owners that do not do a proper moisture test on their concrete before deciding to coat it.

As for the VCT vs Racedeck, be aware if you have Racedeck and not 100% level floors, you might experience some clacking noises as you step on them. Cleaning the underside from time to time can also be a chore but the plus side is you can always remove them and/or take them with you if you ever move.

Used this when we moved in nearly 6 years ago. Not a blemish yet, looks great.

Hi guys, next week I'm going to giving my garage a new look as I have hired the floor contractors to install epoxy floor coating from Toronto with Chessboard design that would look even more stylish with my BMW 750Li. I would surely post the pics when the work is completed. Very much excited.
