Sounds like someone is trying to bend you over with that lease. The car with 4k on it seems like a much better deal. Sheesh, FWIW with the payments @1,198 for 60 months, you will have more than paid for the private party car. No brainer!!

60 month lease !!!
Never, ever, take a lease which's length is longer than the warranty period! If something broke the 49th month, say a transmission, you would be paying for the leasing company

Take some time to check out these two sites (no affiliation)

I am leasing (if it ever arrives) a 2004 C4S Cab, list in the high 90s for 1225/mth for 48 mths with 10k per month. Keep in mind only reason Porsche is releasing the 04 models so late is because of excess 03 inventory. Good luck.

Driver,
The lease is total crap, stay AWAY!
Dunno where you are located but the guys I got my car from (in Texas) have an AS 03 C4S, with 293 miles on it (not even broken in) for $81k, with similar options minus the PCCB. They were great to deal with and got me a great lease on my car (which was used). Especially if you're leasing the car, don't feel constrained to just dealers in your area. Anyway, these guys are:

Putting the same $10,000 down towards the private party purchase gives you a payment of $1260 instead of $1200 and means you can own the car at the end of 60 months instead of owing $45K on it!! No brainer to me.
(of course I didn't figure in sales tax, if applicable in your state).
As someone on another thread said, there is no sense comparing new vs. used, as used ALWAYS comes out ahead.
Alternatively, it sounds like the lease you are talking about is on a very high money factor. If you have good credit (720+ FICO) you should be able to qualify for more aggressive lease factors through private banks rather than Porsche Financial rape-me rates. You might bring that lease down by $100 per month depending on what bank you go through (US Bank I think is the most aggressive, but only 1%-2% of people who apply qualify for the program).

I did a owners option purchase(baloon financing on my turbo and my payment is right around your payment. BTW, my term is 48 months, but of coarse with baloon financing, I can sell at any time. Terrible deal, move on.

i agree-the lease is a disaster. by the way, the 02 c4s is now 2 years old-it might be worth low 70's. i would stay way clear of that lease, and work on buying the 02 for the right price.
