Radar
I saw him touch my taillight as he approached and asked him if something was wrong with it.
What he explained is that they actually don't want you to notice and try to do it surreptitiously. Should the stop go wrong and the officer ends up dead, their fingerprints on the car is just more evidence that it was that car the officer encountered.
Do you have 3 drivers? Why not just one for each driver and then move them between cars? That's what my wife and I do (3-4 vehicles, 2 drivers, 2 V1s). Back in the day the V1 was light years ahead with the ability to do that as hardwiring wasn't as "hard" as the competitors back then.

I may be a fool, but I'm a fool with no tickets for YEARS, thanks to the Beltronics' AWESOME KA detection. I KNOW of at least 5 tickets I've avoided - between the 911, the Corvette, and my lead-foot wife's car, that number is more likely in the teens or twenties. I get about a half-mile range if the cop is behind; a little more if it's ahead, and of course much more on straight roads with no traffic.
I put one in each car - the day I forget to move it will be the day I get tagged. I use mirror mounts in all 3 cars - California Highway Patrol can pull you over for using a suction cup mount for your radar/satnav.

I've used a V1 for 15 years and the only thing that might get me to switch is the lack of a crowdsourcing feature. The future of detectors is just getting enough of them in people's hands that automatically locate LEOs and report them to everyone else. Like an automatic version of Trapster. Escort has it (for an annual fee), but no idea how well it works.
I personally find that moving the detector from car to car is kind of a pain, so I don't bother unless I'm taking a long trip.

I use the Smart Cord Live functionality in my 911 to get the realtime speed trap alerts, but the LEO has always moved on by the time I get the warning. If you have red-light cameras in your jurisdiction, the software also reports those - saved me from a couple of tickets before the cameras were banned in San Diego.
The other thins is the police reported on EL is shared with Waze. If Waze reports a LEO, it will also show up on EL and vice versa. The only difference is EL will continue to show the marked LEO even after they moved on (a configured time in the settings). In Waze, if enough people mark the LEO as not there, it gets removed. This results in EL reporting in way more falses.
I just got back from 3 long trips over the past 2 months and I ran both EL & Waze together. The EL picks up on Ka/K/X/Laser reported by other EL users, which aren't shared with Waze.
+1 on the Passport 9500ix.
The feature I really like is that it uses GPS to store sites where you constantly have door openers and such. Then suppresses that particular signal at that particular intensity at that particular GPS location. This has done WONDERS to decrease false positives in the areas I normally drive.
I understand that if a LEO parks there running radar he'll probably get me, but how is that different than me ignoring the fact that it always raises hell at that corner? I'll take the trade-off for the massive reduction in false positives. (Not really false as the radar is there, but false as in no LEO!)
Mine is hard wired in, but I still have the standard coiled cord that I use if I want it in another car.
PROTIP: the V1 and Passport 9500ix can use the same hardwired power plug.

Really good info over at RDForum.
I have the V1 in four cars and the 9500 ci hardwired into two.
The V1 is starting to false everywhere these days (even upgraded mine). I also don't like them in the dash as thefts are going up.
for roadtrips the V1 is great because of range, so that's where I mainly use it now.
the 9500 CI is a really nice detector, but $2600 pricey. (installed). The laser shifters on it have saved me from two tickets so far, it gives you that one chance to hit the brakes before the cop tries a second lock. when you get under 800 feet he'll get you, but at 1000+ he can't lock you, so it's pretty cool. The ka and k band are very sensitive and I like them.
lots of folks like the red light camera warning, but I wish I could just fully disable that, I don't run reds, and hearing the stupid warning at every overpass/underpass when I'm on the highway blows. you can unmark each location, but it's still a pain.
so for everyday driving I like the 9500ci, for road trips the V1

I will admit that I've gotten lazy the last few years so mine stays in the Cayenne and her's is in the BMW. That means I end up driving the 996 without one. I haven't even so much as seen a cop in it though, but every time I start questioning why I bother in the Cayenne it will go off and save me a few $$$.

You should be able to turn this off in the radar config.
My wife has her own Jetta (also Gray) and its the only car she drives - that's where the third one lives.
If you have an android phone, you should try out YaV1 with the V1. I don't have a V1 so I can only go by the rave reviews by other forum users.
Which laser jammers are these? There is a new compact guy (Dragon Eye) that uses a variable pulse that only one system is able to jam currently, ALP. I had Laser Interceptor and recently switched over to ALP.

Not jammers, shifters - the ones that come with the 9500ci, two up front, one in the rear. have them on my 430 and my cayenne, they are a lifesaver, although I wonder how they affect distronic cruise on the cars behind me, and if i'm ever gonna get rear ended.

+1 on V1.
Although I need to send mine in for the upgrade. Just got the wife the new "Escort Passport". She likes it, therefore I'm happy (sent in a 12 year old Passport for a bit of a discount).
