Default Interior Opinions

So a few months ago I bought a convertible hard top for my C2 Cab. But the color is slightly different but I got it for pretty cheap and it is flawless. My car is midnight blue and I think the top is lapis blue. So my guy is going to repaint it but I'm kind of sitting on the fence if I should have him paint my center console and the horseshoe the same color as the outside.

1. What do you think?
2. Anyone has blue 996 with external color center console and horseshoe? If so, can you post pics?

Thanks!

The answer to your question would definitely depend on what color your interior is, both the seats and vinyl parts.
You note it as "grey" in your signature, but do you have any photos?
My first thought is that painting the console midnight blue is too subtle to be "striking", and this might be a good thing if you want a more subtle look.

Everything interior is grey. The reason I'm tossing and turning about this is that you can see the age on my center console and horse with some tiny scuff marks and scratches.

I'm yet to see a 996 with a console painted body color that I don't like. In my opinion it always improves the otherwise blah and monochrome interior.

While the console is out, it's a great time to install a 997 SSK and/or new cables.

I enjoy being an enabler......

I like the 997 SSK, but the best shifter I have ever experienced in a Porsche was a 997S with a 2010 GT3 shifter (metal bushings) and new cables. That transmission at 100k was light, smooth, and positive, simply superb. I think the GT3 shifter is marginally more than the 997 SSK and also a direct bolt in.

Just wondering what is the logic of having a hardtop for you Cali boys? I've been curious but never really asked.

It's more looks than anything else. It looks different and it's a nice change in a season that one may not open the top as much. But we do have mountains too, so it's not all sunshine and sand. Of course we don't have Chicago weather here.

I have the center console, the horse shoe, and dome light trim painted blue. I like it. I'm not sure how much if any more ill do. I think you need to keep within some limits. I like the pics above even though he has the doors, he has kept other parts gray, so I think it's still tastefull. I have seen folks go overboard and that's what my goal has been to avoid. To keep things interesting I'm starting to recover certain parts in leather and add blue stitching.

Awesome! Thank you! I think the fact that mine is a cab, having those pieces in body color will make the interior pop!

BTW, where did you get those silver trims for the gauges?
