LOTS of Vids - VIR Full and Grand - 996 C2 Track Car (fun w/ 997 GT2)
Trackdaze event at VIR. Monday was full course and Tuesday was Grand Course. I finally got this car sorted out to the point where I can comfortably push the limits pretty hard. First I'll post a few short links of some action, then I'll spam you guys with the links for every single session.
Update: Check post #3 for info on my best lap time(s) and a vid of one of my clean/clear laps.
Update #2: Extracted video of a clean lap from the Grand Course configuration, as well. Also in post #3.
Don't forget to watch in 1080 at 60 fps!

Yes, yes he did. That was quite frustrating, LOL!
I have been stepping through my clear/clean laps and the fastest one that I have found, so far, is a 2:07.2. I may have run a lap in the high 2:06s... just gotta keep looking. In my 2:07.2 lap, I don't even track all the way out onto the green curbing after oak tree. That lap was also on Monday, not Tuesday, and it was only on Tuesday that i got the confidence to stay full throttle for the first 3/4 of the climbing esses. I was also braking deeper into oak tree and at the end of the front straight on Tuesday, so i bet i if i strung together my best sectors from Mon/Tues, it would be a mid to low 2:06 sec lap on the full course. Once i learn how to extract a bit more from a few turns that still catch me out, I totally think i can get this car into the high 2:05s.
Here's the clean lap I just mentioned, extracted from deep within one of the vids.
And a clean lap from the Grand Course, which I was still learning...

Your a good driver!
Is this just a original 996 C2 3,6L?? I see your passing M3 and S2000 in a hurry.
EDIT: Looks like a stock 3,4L just like mine! That meens I could drive like that

Thanks Glen and DT!
Hell yeah man. Get out there!
My car has a stock 3.4L motor and stock trans, w/ Moton double adjustable susp, brembos, hoosiers, a cage, and a few other bits.
I was, but all I was doing was screaming obscenities in the paddock, hahaha. I was having clutch issues that prevented me from shifting into gear; the entire day was wasted. I think I left around 2:00 and took the car straight to RRT. They fixed things for me on Saturday and got me up and running for VIR. Sorry I didnt come say hi, but anger clouds my thoughts somethin' fierce!!! Let me assure you that you would not have enjoyed my company, LOL.

Great vids - i was there 2 weeks ago in my 2001 996 track car and had a blast. Couldn't manage a 2:07, only got to a 2:11 on my R888's with JRZ's..perhaps I need Motons...it was great watching your lines to compare. Nice driving! Do you have any detailed telemetry as would love to compare entry/apex and exit speeds - thanks

Aren't you the one that bought the 996 from Porsche of Bedford.
If so, it looks like it runs pretty good.
I looked at it but it just wasn't in the funds to get a second one just for the track.
Your driving looks real good, plus looked like you were having fun chasing the gt2.

Ogr8frogy, I got it from Porsche of Beachwood in Ohio.
Thanks Matt. Hoosiers would benefit you more than a suspension change, in my opinion. I do not have any telemetry yet. That will definitely be coming next season.

NineElevenLover thanks for posting the vids. These are great. Love VIR! I am up in Charlottesville and in the process of starting a new 996 track/ autocross project. Looking for a vehicle and plan to start with a spec996 suspension package modification first and then work towards other improvements. Tires, wheels, brakes after the first mods.
I saw your other vids on your channel. Seeing other cars ( corvettes, etc) pull away in the straights concerns my build. Any suggestions to do better in these areas?
Thanks!
