Default Recommended Tint Installer?

Could anyone please recommend a GREAT window tint installer in the Los Angeles area? I would also appreciate any recommendations for the brand name of the best tint available (metallic, ceramic, etc.). Note, my 996 is slate grey (not seal grey) and I am wondering whether certain tints will work better (ie, more subtle) with this color that others. I am thinking of 35% for sides and rear for heat purposes only (car boils in the LA sun).

Thanks!

Try Elegant Glass Tinting in Santa Monica. 310-664-0577. They did a great job on my Accord and I would have gotten my C4S tinted but I like the way it looks without tint.

Thanks Viken. Have you had any actual experience with this installer? How about the brand(s) of tint they use?

Yes. Although, I do not normally concern myself with brands, I am familiar with V-Kool because they just installed it on all of my windows at my new home. If not the best, it is one of the best products out there. I have worked with this company for over thirteen years. They really know their film and understand the customers' needs thoroughly. They do great work both on cars, residential and commercial properties.

If your looking for a ceramic tint, I'd recommend Huper Optik.

Sanituca - can you tell me the differences in appearance and clarity between ceramic tints and others. Any other differences?

The biggest difference with ceramic tint is the heat rejection. I don't think you can really tell the difference bet ceramic and dyed tints when it is first put on but the dyed tints will eventually fade over time.

I had my car done with Huper Optik 50% Ceramic. Another difference with Ceramic is it will not interfere with Radar Detectors, GPS, Cell Phone performance as much as a tint with Metal in it.

Kirby - I've got a tint question for you. I'm in CA, too, and thought that you couldn't put any tint on the drivers' and passengers' windows (other than the side windows behind you). Any tickets??

What I was told by several cop friends of mine and also read on the web somewhere was that you could go as dark as 70%. Huper Optik's lightest was 50% and I wanted Ceramic Tint so I got the Lightest.

It's actually lighter in person. When you take pictures it always comes out darker than it really is. In the day time if I'm parked in the sun you can't really even tell it's tinted...looks natural. At night and on cloudy days it gets a little darker, but not that bad. Another thing I've noticed that's weird is that the angle of the window makes it look darker. I used to have an Eclipse (70% all around) and the tint looked the same shade from any angle, but on the Porsche it's darker/lighter depending on the angle you look at it.

No tickets yet...knock on wood...
