Funny when you try to sell one of these - no one gives a you-know-what about the work. It's only about paint, body, originality. Zero added value from anything other than IMS.
Hood River is phenomenal, next time we take the 996 to Society Hotel I'll drop a line!

Society Hotel Bingen! X 996

Good on ya doing the cam work.

I love bingen/white salmon. One of the few things I regret about moving to Eugene.

What’s the deal with this one I wonder? Were there Canadian 98s? No VIN…

Most likely a 99 built in 98.
Many were built in 98.

yes I know that. I even emailed them and told them it’s a 99 and to stop advertising it as a 98. At least they could post the f’ing VIN. Everyone should spam them with what idiots they are.

It's either a '98 build date with a NA '99 (X) VIN, or an imported '98 ROW (W) VIN car from Japan. The aftermarket head unit, exhaust tips, front windshield mounted transmitter, and sticker on the rear window lean towards JDM. Hard to tell in the pictures but the speedo also looks to be in KM/H. The Aerokit is an addition, and the paint match isn't the best.

You'd think they would point out the fact it's a JDM import instead of generic used car tropes.

Look at this BaT listing, seems like the least amount of effort to list a car on BaT ever

Barely more than a Craigslist ad worth of photos.
That must be one of the first IMS bearing replacements since it has a Raby installed IMS retrofit.
Mine had one of the first IMS Solutions which had been installed at FSI when I bought it.

This isn't exactly a 996, but a VW Vanagon with an engine from a 1999 996. But it needs a bit of polishing (actually a full project).
  • The body is a Syncro so you get AWD, and the parts include many upgrades.
  • The engine had a full rebuild and upgrade to 3.6 liters.
  • The build mimics the VW B32 Vanagons that Porsche built with a 911 engine for the Paris - Dakar Rally - described on the ad.
If completed, it would make a good match for a 996 owner who would like a fun and unique utility vehicle as a complement to a sports car. For $14,500 I wonder if this package is worth it just for the engine.

what the?? Haha, this is an insane idea and a phenomenal value for that engine, if the posted build list checks out.

I saw this posted for sale in Oregon like 4-5 years ago. It’s been sitting I guess.
