Here's a nice low mile example. Really low.
Work the owner down on his price and take care of the IXX and you would have quite a nice Porsche.
OK, maybe also fluids, belt, tires, and a few other things. It depends upon what the owner has had done over the years.

For $46K, I'd be shopping for a pristine 30K mile 996 Turbo instead of a 3,000 mile C2. Shame the guy's had the car for ten years and only put on 3,300 miles. Makes KK look like a frequent driver.

Traded my C4S at the end of October for $29,500 which is more than private party value. Looks like the dealership is having a hard time selling it. LOL

Was the current owner planning to take it to the grave with him? Saving it for the next owner I guess.

OK - very interesting and very cheap, but just look at where the work was done - in the backyard amongst grass and weeds - Oh My! I might not take that car if it were free.

OK, for free maybe.....

I am not making any claims, just reporting numbers as they reflect the value of the 996. In the new issue of Panorama there are 16 996s for sale in the classifieds section. The lowest prices is $24,900 and the highest is $39500. The average price of all 16 comes out at $30,331. Now these are asking prices. But if we arbitrarily discount 20% and said that would be the actual sales price, that means the lowest sales price would be $20,000...the highest would be $32,500...and the average would be $24,331. Certainly not as dismal as the reported $10k to $17k that seems to make the most noise. Obviously the 16 cars in Panorama represent cars owned by marque enthusiasts and at those prices I doubt they are flying off the shelf...but again even with a 20% drop over their asking prices...the picture of 996 values doesn't appear as bleak as many seem to feel.

Which quickly becomes apparent to anyone shopping for a nice 996... Are 996's an underpriced bargain? Hell yes. But really nice 'no-issue' 996's that are under $20K's get snapped up pretty quickly.

What's the point?

Sorry, I don't see the point in copying For Sale ads from CL or? over to rennlist. No offence to auto salesmen, but I hope rennlist remains pretty much dedicated to real owners and enthusiasts.

As a new guy in search of a clean, early 996, I appreciate the CL posts. It's always helpful to have extra sets of eyes on the market.

Found this hard top for a 996 for $200 bucks. Seems like a great deal for anyone looking to add one on for the winter.

Don't you just want to send an inquiry email and simply say "WTF is wrong with you?"?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of silver either...
Or, were you referring to the to the fact that the car has never been driven?

In seriousness, I am intrigued by these ultra-low mileage cars that we see advertised from time to time.
I don't know that this one is worth the $47,500 they are asking, it depends a lot upon what maintenance has been performed, and how it was stored.
If a person could determine what kind of mechanical shape it is truly in and factor that into the price, they might do OK.
Lets say you would need to put $5-6K into the car for an IMSB, fluids, and misc. items. And say, you got the car for $43K or something.
For less than $50K, you would have a brand new 911 to go out and start driving. You cant buy any new 911 for 1/2 that.
Not everyone would think this is a good deal, and I'm not even certain what I really think about it. But to the right person, these things are opportunities....
