I'm going to look at this one today. Might have a trade worked out for my '61 Buick coupe. If its as good as the pictures it should be a pretty fair deal.

BTW Im a Noob who has been creeping around here for a while trying to get a little education, so thanks all of you.

KC I love your screwbird, I was a VS-32 Mauler.

Black mk1 aero. Pretty tasty, not my color. Decent mileage.

That's a pretty nice 4 spoke steering wheel. I can't say I've seen too many of those.

Low mileage and good price too.

Very cool to see another War Hoover guy in here. What era? I was in the Screwbirds from 1989 to 1992. Was at VS-41 from January to September 1989. Any overlap? If so, I'll think harder and try to throw out a couple of names you might recognize.

EDIT: BTW, I love the color of that car in Phoenix you are looking at. The asking price with 148k miles is a bit high, but if you're trading versus buying, I guess it's not that relevant. My '99 coupe that I sold last March had 148k on the odometer, but only 73k on the engine (long story why the engine change - it was due to a FOD strike from a semi-tire knocking the oil filter housing off). Anyhow, that car looked and drove fantastic with 148k miles on it. But still, it's really hard to sell them with that kind of mileage. Even in great shape, that's probably about a $13,000 car. I sold mine for $15,750, but it was a factory aerokit car with almost all of the options.

To KC's point. Check this one out - http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/ctd/5303597277.html

It is a convertible but it is also AWD, My thoughts are with the almost $3000 in savings, take a $300 one way flight from Glendale to San Mateo and drive it back the long way down the PCH 1. Thank me later and take lots of pictures!

I was the end of the era, 2002-2007. You probably would be with my Skippers generation (Hooter, Bam Bam, Bugs, monkey butt). I had to pick a new community and ended up in TACAMO, which took all the fun out of the navy for me. The Hoov was a blast though. Cruised on the Enterprise which is also gone now, along with the T-34 and the T-2. Makes me feel old.

On the car, i agree too much money but the car I am looking to trade I have listed for 13,000 and would MAYBE take 12 for so it works out pretty fair. Thanks for the input too because Nada and KBB says its worth about 10. The blue is awesome and love the combo. Trades are so hard to do but worth a shot.

FRUNKenstein 11-06-2015 05:58 PM

Yeah, Bam Bam, Bugs and Monkey Butt. My callsign was "Cheese". When I started dating my wife, who is from Spain, it got changed to "Queso".

I drank a lot back then. But so did everyone else. Was at the last real Tailhook. We had just gotten back from Desert Storm. Yeah, there was gambling, booze and strippers - so guilty as charged. Because Vegas. Freaking politicians ruined a great institution in the name of getting women in combat. We were Naval Aviators - best thing that ever happened to us was picking up Naval Academy females on the way back from the Persian Gulf for the last couple of weeks of our cruise. I had two hot college chicks living 3 doors down the hall from me on the aircraft carrier. Do you think I was complaining? Nobody I knew had a problem with having women on the carrier.

Prices drop with the mercury here in the Northeast ...

01 coupe, 140k miles, $13k

http://nwct.craigslist.org/cto/5279982704.html

From the ad:

01 911 with the 300hp 3.4 flat 6 and 6 speed manual transmission. Mileage is 138k. I am the second owner since 2010. Since owned, the clutch and a ceramic intermediate shaft bearing were replaced about 40k ago. The battery and alternator were done this year along with all 4 tires. Routine maintenance like mobil 1 synthetic every 4000 miles, 93 octane and royal purple transmission fluid have been used. As of this month the water pump/coolant flush, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, and spark plugs were done. Its a clean title with NO accidents. The front bumper has a crack prior to my ownership but is very small. There are NO dents or rust. The interior has no rips or burns. Its got a built in valentine one rador detector/jammer. The car is in 8/10 condition. Still Runs and drives. Price is $13000 which is cheaper than any 911/996. And the title is a clean Ny. NO TEST DRIVES NO CHECKS.

Why do so many sellers post pictures of their car for sale in the shade. Is it that hard to drive it to a spot that is in the sun? The only reason I can think of is to hide blemishes and issues with the car. Must be a lot for sale that don't look so good in the sun....

The interior on this one looks quite bad. Definately shows the 140k miles.

No test drives? I understand not wanting jack wagons just wanting to drive your Porsche for fun.... But gotta drive it before I buy it.

Add in the NO CHECKS and it sounds more like "Please show up with large sums of cash to look at 'my' car so I can hit you over the head and take it".

Really like this one.

That is really cheap for a 2000 with aero kit and nice wheels. Wonder what the mileage is and maintenance record.
