Broken Convertible Top Bolt Threads

Broken Convertible Top Bolt Threads
So I thought my convertible top was just having the traditional top problem not properly making contact with the switch... taking apart the cluster at the top center of the windshield revealed a much more serious issue. WOULD LOVE HELP ON IDEAS HOW TO REPAIR THIS!
You'll see my photos below... BOTH bolt threads where the convertible latch receiver screws into the body above the rearview mirror have cracked. Thus the entire mount won't secure to the body. I have no idea how/why this happened, but it was obviously covered up by glue and other attempts at hiding it. In any case, it is now my problem.
As you can see, both have cracked in half. I don't see a way to get to them and have no idea how to:
a) Remove the broken bits
b) Replace them
Any advice appreciated!

No problem. I feel your pain. I had the same, very frustrating - issue. The problem I had with the suggested fix was the modification of the inexpensive rivet tool. The 100mm screw kept bending on me. Also breaking up the existing broken threads and removing them with needle nose is really tedious. I do have plenty of extra nut-serts if you needs some, I had issues finding the correct metric size. Happy to mail you some. Just PM me.

I had the same issue on may car. It was generating a rattle above the sun visor.
I followed the Mike recommendation and would like to thank him !

Except that I didn't buy or modify the riveter tool.
I found an easier way to install the replacement steel Nut insert ( M6 1.0) with a DIY tool made with a M6 bolt, one M6 srew and a couple washers. costing $3 :
