Default Window scratch?

A mysterious window scratch has shown up on the inside glass/driver's side of my beloved '99 996 cabriolet. See attached pic. below.

Sorry for the poor photo quality; scratch is about 9" long and runs from the front corner downward slightly, and its getting worse!

To explain further, my windows have been tinted...work done about 7 years ago by the first Florida owner. So the scratch has cut away at the tint, But I don't think its into the glass yet.

Does your fingernail catch in the actual glass(not tint)?

If it does, you may need a new window. If it doesn't, you may be able to polish it out with glass polishing compound.

Default Still guessing

Initially, I thought the problem was caused by the tint buckling as I could easily feel the "scratch" with my finger nail. But as the "scratch" grew, I started to suspect a problem relating to the window regulator. But I'm still open to other ideas.

may need to pry open the door panels and inspect if there is anything causing the scratch?

Same thing happened to my tint this summer for some reason, in the exact same place, for me, just pulled the old tint off, and had it re-done with ceramic tint, should last a few years again.
