How many pages do you need before you can make a decision?
Maybe a poll? More photos? More links? More discussion?

I'd suggest calling Consumer Reports and asking for their review!

Just installed the 997 OEM shifter... Just what the doctor ordered.

Alpine is what you'd call a scientist... Not afraid to put his ideas to test. Not a bad quality when it's comes to questions like this.
Worst case scenario, you buy a shifter, try it, if you don't like it, buy another and sell the first one! You'll get your money back!

Good luck finding the option that suits you best!!

Default Shift to the right , shift to the left now turn around twice.

OK folks,

I'm about to pull the trigger on the 997 OEM shifter. Just to confirm. The one below describe on this URL is the savior of all sloppiness, shifts like butter with no notchiness and is a bit shorter shifting?

OMG!!! Yes, that's it. Buy it, install it, then write your review of it. Though you should just use it for shifting the trans. DANGER: DO NOT MOLEST THE SHIFTER!!

KK, I'm waiting on the delivery of a 997SSK, so obviously jrosa55 needs to change his mind and be like me. I'll be sure to send you a PM as soon as I have it installed with initial thoughts!

JK jrosa55 - I had a hard time choosing myself. Maybe we should trade in a couple months and then see which we really prefer!

"bit shorter" is very subjective. Generally people used to driving cars with short shifters most of their lives still think the throws are long in the regular 997 shifter and end up changing it later. If you haven't drivin with short shifters, you may be ok with it.

Also if you cruise more and you're not aggressive driver or go to track events, you'll probably be ok with it too.

What What, I don't trade shafts with no one. They might like it and then I get stuck with the short end of the stick. I mean a shorty, notchy and more thrust needed to accomplish the same task at hand. At my age I might break a hip, I mean my wrist. Plus I plan to modify it so it will vibrate at 7000 RPM and a coil so when I turn the heater on it warm my stick shifter.

LMAO! LMAO! I will keep my insanity in check on all other threads besides on my "I love my car" responses. All bets are off on that one. I don't take my meds on purpose when I write there.

Default Lubrication is Overrated!

Hey, question once I get my new stick do I have to lubricated it?
You know what mean silly. I'm talking about the plastic pieces were the shaft goes into or just stick it in there in the raw with no jelly or grease. Please curtail yourself from a double sense response to my line of questioning. As you're aware there is a member of the opposite sex following this thread that could be easily offended by your CAVERNICOLOUS remarks.

This thread has been old since page 1. This is lost bandwidth as it's been covered many many times in various other threads. But it seems like JRosa wants Concierge service here...
