Default Durametric or autel md702

Hey all...

Looking into purchasing a scanner and wondering if anyone has used the Autel one? Obviously the durametric is the popular choice but given the price for the pro and what this Autel seems to offer it might be a better deal. Has anyone used the autel?

Durametric has more testing capabilities because it can activate fans, cam solenoid, a/c compressor, SAI pump, evap valves, etc. Also, Durametric returns detailed fuel trims like FRA, RKAT, MAF voltage reading, etc. and talks to the immobilizer and climate control.

I think the Autel can do none of the above. However, Durametric doesn't do the generic O2 sensor tests and mode 6 data but those you can get from a simple generic OBDII scanner setup anyway.

Ok sounds good!! Other than the price difference for the pro or enthusiast...do both do the same functions? I know enthusiast limited to 3 vins but don't plan on using on a lot of vehicles...just wanna see if they both have the same capabilities

I have the Autel AL619, which appears very similar to the model you are looking at. Bought it on ebay for $140 with free shipping. Looks like they are a little more expensive now, but not much.

I like it because it will do airbag and ABS. I've got two inexpensive Actron code pullers and the AL619 does way more. The Autel is easy to use and I've had no problems with it. It diagnosed a faulty airbag sensor for me on my Saab 9-7x and made it super easy to fix. That diagnosis and repair alone saved me more than the $140 I paid for the scanner.
Can't tell you how it compares to the Durametric, though because I've never used a Durametric.

There's a feature comparison on Durametric website. I think the pro has a few more programming features or so which I don't care.

Also, one important sensor reading available from Durametric and not the Autel scanner is cam deviations on both banks.

Given the good responses and the research I been doing I finally pulled the trigger on the durametric enthusiast and should get in a couple days...first order of business is remove airbag light from remind seat for side seat cover repair. Can't wait to use it

How much are Durametrics selling for now? I haven't priced one. The enthusiast gets you three VINs - how much for the pro model?

$275 for the 3-vin version and $700 something for the pro version, which they let you trade up to if needed in the future for the price diff of the two.

If you call Durametric, sometimes they have refurbished enthusiast units for around $200.

That's a good tip. Also, you can sell yours in the future with the remaining un-used vins.
