Just got my new ride last week a pristine 03 996! 
Does anyone know why the hid's are come on at startup with the headlight switched to off? It appears as though there is another small halogen bulb that also lights up and I' not sure why Porsche didn't deem this to be sufficient. i would think that after 10 years of being on with 70k kilometers, those hid bulbs must be on their last breath. Any ideas on why they would do this and am I likely to gain considerable lumens if I change out the bulbs? been dying to try those Osram CBI's !
