Default ABS Pump! Please Help

I have a 2000 996 C4. ABS pump part number is 996-355-755-47. I have to replace it and brand new is $4000. I have found several on eBay and all the numbers match except the last two. I have found some listings with all the same numbers but the last two (05 & 52) saying it will fit it my year, but one dealer said it has to be "47" at the end and to my luck there is none to be found.

Any suggestions? Does anyone know if I put a similar number in will it work. I am guessing there is something to do with the car's computer and the PSM with this unit.

Are they sure it's the pump and not a bad ABS module, which can be repair?

On BMWs (also BOSCH ABS), a lot of time it's the ABS module itself broken as opposed to the pump so it's also possible in your case. The module itself can be repaired for $300 http://modulemaster.com/rebuilds/porsche/carrera/

This came about because the brakes were not bled properly and the brake fluid started busting out the side. I was told it was the ABS unit, but it appears it is the pump. The module is the plastic part and there seems to be nothing wrong with that. It gushes brake fluid out the side of the metal part.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that as the pump is expensive. I would think the pump with identical part number is needed as it's a critical part. You don't really want a substitute unless someone knows exactly the differences between those pumps and your original one and that the differences don't matter.

Never thought a regular bleeding job would damage the pump. Feel free to share details so others can avoid the same mistakes.
