Default Somebody got a good deal on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/291214524059...84.m1435.l2649

2002 C4S coupe, silver on black, tiptronic, 108k miles, appears to be in good condition with recent maintenance sold For $19,100 tonight. I was in on it up to $17,501, but the wife probably would've blown a gasket if I went higher and actually ended up with it.

I buy and sell probably 10 cars per year. At $17,501, I could have driven that car for 6 months and sold it at the auction next spring for a profit easily, or sold it retail. At $20,000, it becomes harder to justify to the missus. It's a hobby for me, along with the auto museum. Sorry , I'm just a car guy.

Problem is, car sales on eBay are one of the few categories where a high bid is non-binding. So, no idea if the car really sold at that price. But I agree, good deal if the sale really went through.

+996 and is one of the issues when dealing with car sales through eBay. I believe car sales and one other category isn't legally binding through eBay.

Buying a car without looking at it in person is a big gamble..

That C4S didn’t appear to have the Bose subwoofer box behind the rear seats, I thought this was standard on all C4S’.

Also, it wasn’t a particularly outstanding of a “deal” in my opinion.

I've never seen a C4S sell for under $20k. Anybody got any examples?

Funny you should ask ... saw this in the local Craigslist a couple days ago:

Wow, I think that's an even better deal - basically the same mileage, but with a 6-speed instead of a tip. That car probably won't last very long on the market. I would've pegged the value on car at about $23k. I guess that's the difference between someone who actually wants to sell a car and someone who's trying to get $34k from a Mk I like we saw in the other thread.

Edit: Holy crap, I just noticed that this ad was posted 26 days ago. Anybody near Albany interested in doing a Rennfax on it and reporting back?
