Despite multiple hours on the battery charger, my battery is dead. Again.

I'm going with an aftermarket brand tomorrow instead of the Porsche/Moll battery.

I have had my 03 Targa for 7 years now. When first bought in 6/07 it had a non Porsche battery installed at a Denver Porsche dealer. In 6/09 I took it back to the dealer because the car could not sit more than two days or it would not have enough charge to start the car. I had to change the battery again in the summer of 2012 and this time went with a Sams Club Energizer size 42. This summer I am again seeing the car not be able to sit more than a couple of days without needing a charge before starting. I may need to replace the battery for the 4th time in 7 years. No special accessories installed and I lock the car with the key when I let the car sit more than a day.

I drive the car from May to November at least weekly and take the car out on winter days at least once per month. I usually keep the hood un-latched and put on a 2 amp charger every weekend during the winter.

I did use a trickle charger from Harbor Freight one winter but I was not sure that was good for the battery. I guess I need to spring for the Porsche quality charger.

The Sams battery should have a 3 year warranty.

I average 3-4 years from the OEM. I went through 3 of those before switching to a Diehard GEL and haven't looked back.

Dennis, I replaced a dead battery in 2008 with an Interstate battery, so 6 years and still working fine in my 99' C2 Porsche. I have a battery in my center console boat that is original from 2001.

C'mon!! I don't think there really is any mystery here...any typical car battery will need to be replaced after 3-4 years. Doesn't matter the make, model or whatever. It's a throw away item. Cold is a battery killer and so is heat. My daily driver 99 996 C2 w/130,000...replaced old 4 year old DieHard battery one year ago with DieHard AGMG Group 48. Drop and drive....never misses. Very happy with my choice and there is a Sears just about everywhere you go. Paid (w/tax) $187.96

I would be really happy with 3 - 4 years of battery life as opposed to 1 - 2 years!

3 1/2 flawless years on a Walmart Maxx battery that is made by Johnson Industries same as Interstate. It looks and weighs the same as the Interstate except the stickers. Thought I'd give it a try as it's easily returned and only $70... so far so good!

My local dealer did the right thing. They tested my battery and diagnosed it with a bad cell. The battery is being replaced with a new Porsche battery at no charge to me. I'm pleased with the outcome.

Congrats! Does the warranty restart for this new battery? If so, you're just gonna have free batteries every 2 years from Porsche

im not a fan of autozone, but my battery on my truck dies will "die" about every 3 years or so and AZ replaces it for free each time. I havent bought a battery in over a decade for the truck...I plan to do the same with my 996 when I have to finally buy a battery, I am sure that it will be the last battery that I will ever have to buy for it.
