X51 engiine needed! Any idea where to find one?

You sure about that? I would double check as I find it hard to believe Porsche would charge the same between a x51 and regular motor.
Also I'm pretty sure your mechanic is mistaken when he says its a direct swap. Maybe he meant physically.
If you wanted to go used, you missed a used gt3 motor that popped up a few months ago for 15. That would've been a great swap IMO.

What do you think brothers and sisters...? Below please find what my insurance lady emailed me today...
Btw we are talking about 2002 Carrera Convertible w 40K miles... excellent body/interior w some modifications such as... Short shifter, chip config for performance boost, air intakes, Oz racing rims upgrade, upgraded muffler and exhaust... I hit the bottom while driving, cranked the oil pan, kept driving and seized the engine... Rebuild cost around $17K, New engine $22500+tax on labor (per my mechanic)
I just am reviewing shops est and it appears to be a total. if for some reason it comes back a repairable from our tl dept there will be a betterment applied to oem engine of 20% which would be $4060.00. we got the 20% by looking at year of vehicle and giving benefit of life expectancy of 200,00 miles on engine and 10% a year.

That's a beautiful car. Its a shame that your insurance is trying to total it. So from my understanding its your car insurance not an aftermarket warranty that you had bought for the car right?
If that's the case I would insist on either them finding you and exact replacement or paying you enough for you to replace it without any cut ends of what you had before.

I am sad but totaled! they didnt want to let me get a new engine. My options were to get it rebuild or total.
I am in my mid 30s had 20+ cars already, met with Porsches when I first bought a Cayenne sold it in 3months cause of not enough power and then bought a Cayenne Turbo S sold it due to high gas consumption and bought this. Out of all the cars I had this was the only one I really liked to drive.
Now I will shop for Turbos!

This makes no sense. They denied you from buying one of their engines? Considering you were willing to spend $25k+ on a motor, you ever given a thought to one of Jakes high performance motors? 3.8L sounds yummy...

No, I wasn't going to spend... They were ok w rebulding it. I asked them to change the engine instead. They said no and I said no to rebuild. They will get the car towed on Monday and I started looking for my next already.

Ok makes sense now. You must have decent insurance if they're covering engine failures and giving you those options.

Full coverage with any insurance carrier, comp & coll, provides coverage for roadbed collision which is what the OP describes he experienced. Just apply your deductible and your covered, no special insurance needed.
