996 price with gt3rs looks and power!! Project stormtooper underway!!
Well, i feel i'm far enough into my project to start a build thread. Background on the car so no Porsche purists freak out! lol. This is a 99' 996 with the ever so sought after 3.4l m96 So already a good reason to swap the motor out. Second the reason for all the updated body work was the previous owner/owners (8 i believe!!) side swiped a guard rail and went over curbs with it....so i'm not worried about whipping my sawzall out and cutting up the body....since it wasnt perfect to begin with.
So here we are with the PERFECT candidate for a v8 swap!!
*** So this thread will show my journey into swapping an LSX motor into the P-car ***
I'd like to thank whit3out and 1dirtyZ for the inspiration and also Nick (whit3out) has helped me with my questions tremendously along the way. Great car guy that genuinely likes to help the car community!!
Onto the car:
-99' 996 c2 6speed
-09' GT3rs front clip (genuine bumper,fiberglass fenders,fiberglass hood,genuine head lights)
-996 RSR rear widebody and side skirts (took me awhile to figure out)
-19" HRE 542r's (came with some nasty no name 19's with 6 layers of different color paint on them)
-Bilstein PSS10 (came with custom cut springs!! lol)
-Plastidip Matte white exterior (Great 10 footer!!) At some point i may get all the body work 100% and get a proper paint job on it. Looks great at 10 feet away though!!
-Grey interior with some custom touches.....custom black suede airbag covers!lol, i'm assuming they blew out at some point. Black suede on the inner part of the grey seats.
Onto the pics:
Day i picked her up! If i wasnt soo excited to get into a 911 i would have done a proper inspection and probably wouldnt have gone through with the trade. I uncovered a plethora of hidden damage that was not shared with me. Cut springs, broken and welded subframe, broken under chassis braces, broken and jb welded power steering lines, broken ac lines, etc, etc. Anyway, whats done is done.
Cracked front end and ugly wheels in all their glory!!
Genuine gt3rs front bumper and HRE's added
Plastidip added
Farewell trusty M96
Stiffened up the trans mount while easy to get to
Hello broken subframe! Quality weld repair as well! Old vs. New replacement.
I must be hittin the gym good! One twist with my bare hands!! lol
Hello studly!! (reference to the arp head studs for the non wrench turners)
And wah lah!!
Spec stage......stage good enough for 750ft/tq!!!!
Motor and transaxle mated up via custom plate
BOOM we're in!!
Fabbing up mounts with cardboard
Cardboard into metal
Corvette fuel filter/regulator in stock 996 location
Corvette "batwing" oil pan to look more porschey....its also the shallowest pan with cool road race baffling technology
And thats where i'm at now folks!! Here is a list of things before she cranks up!
-Plug up my gutted Porsche engine harness to run the gauges
-Run power, ground, key on to my GM harness
-fab coolant lines
-install batwing oil pan
-fab temporary exhaust consisting of factory ls6 manifolds, pre cats, and cats.
-fill fluids
-Crank her up!! Fingers crossed since i didnt take this motor out of a running car.

It will have the looks and power, just not the sound! lol. But i'll still get some looks with cammed v8 thumping from the back! I looked at gt3rs motors and they were in the $40k range.....way out of my pay grade!!

Not sure, it was already done. Probably that $3kish one on ebay. Fit and finish was great till i threw on the oem bumper, now there is a small gap between the bumper and front of the hood.
will do!
