Well, it looks like Porsche is releasing a 40th Anniversary 911, of which only 1,963 will be built. They will be using the RWD platform (unlike the last one) and it will be silver instead of grey/purple like last time. The good thing is that it will also have 25 more hp than the standard 996. Looks like a winner.

Hmmm, I could do without that 911 badge on the rear.

For $10K more I can get a more exclusive 911 with more HP and better resale value. It's called the GT3.
Unless these anniverary cars are going to be discounted, I would opt for the GT3 for a little more money. History has proven with other car manufacturers that anniversary cars do not hold thier value any better than the "regular" cars. The fact that there will more HP and better handling will help hold some of the value.
Just my .02

I'd actually take a C4S over this thing. $89K base means more like $99K with options, you can really deck out a C4S for 90K and get a widebody that looks more integrated than this car with the side skirts and 911 badges slapped on. About the only thing going for it is the HP IMHO, but guess what, as soon as someone gets their hands on the ECU for that car what is to keep them from swapping it out to another C2 or even a C4S?

What I want is the "mechanical limited slip". I wonder if Gert is going to offer this as an upgrade?????
I think it's embarrassing the Carrera doesn't come w/limited slip. My guess was that it was incompatible with with PSM, but it sounds like they work together fine in this situation.

Why would anyone buy this car when they can buy a GT3, which will spank the hell out of this 40th Anniversary nonsense?
Looks like a poser car for profiling or some connoiseur who shudders when he gets a rock chip on his car.
