Default Elephant Racing Coilovers

Hi folks,

Just wondering if any of you out there have the Elephant Racing coilovers on your cars? If so, what are your overall thoughts on the product?

At $3500 - $4000, they are a bit up there for a product that is not rebound and compression adjustable. On the other hand, they do hand build them and match the shocks to the spring rates and provide dyno charts, ensuring you get a properly built set of coilovers. I spoke to Chuck from Elephant Racing and he was very patient in answering my questions very thoroughly and explaining in detail what his products offer.

The only other options I have considered are:

- Ohlins Road & Track
- KW V3s
- Bilstein PSS10s.

My car is a daily driver and I encounter many harsh and bumpy roads. I plan on going to the track maybe once or twice a year (if even.) I'm leaning towards the Ohlins, primarily because of cost and my previous experience with their motorcycle suspension - it was amazing. I want to emphasize that the biggest deterrent in getting the Elephant Racing suspension is cost. They aren't cheap compared to what the competition has got to offer.

Oh, and this is for a 2004 996 C2. Current mileage is 34,000 miles / 55,xxx KM. Thanks!

Have you considered RoW M030? Sounds perfect for your app.

It's something that crossed my mind, but I don't know much about it. Chuck, however, did throw the option out there saying it was something to consider. I didn't ask him to elaborate on that (purely my fault) as I was more interested in hearing about the coilovers.

Wow, this is embarrassing. Be prepared to laugh. I am pretty sure I solved the problem with my "suspension." Guess what the culprit was?

Tire pressure.

That's right. You read correct.

Measured cold, maybe about 15 minutes ago. Weather here in Vancouver is 14C / 57F.
Fronts: 31 / Rear: 40
New: 36 / 44

Car drives like it's brand new and no clunk or thumps whatsoever. No more floaty turns. Good grief. I'll be taking the car to The Ridge Motorsport Park in July with the local PCA club.

31 front is a bit low but 40 rear is spot on. The 44 rear (Porsche spec) is meant for a car that's fully loaded with passengers. With just the driver, lots of folks prefer 40 in the rear instead.
