Default 99/996 c2 seat belt warning question

Hi guys its been a while. I hope everyone is well. Can someone with a 99/996 answer this question.

If a passenger is in the passenger seat and does not have their set belt on, do you get a seat belt light and a warning ding?

Iv finally decided to chase this air bag light issue after 4 years. I did the seat belt latch and wire update and still have the issue. I am pretty sure my issue is in the passenger seat. Sometimes when I have someone with me for a long weekend and they are in and out of that seat, the light actually turns off sometimes. My thought at this point is whatever switch tells the car someone is in that seat is acting goofy.

Thanks for the help.

Kyle
