Thumbs up Psii

Loren,

I was intrigued by your comment on the PSII, we have just added a second P car to the family, now have a 99 996 cpe, and a 01 Cab. Warning lights are driving us crazy, as well as incomplete information at dealership. Can you provide some additional info on how it can be used.......

Sorry

"For about $125 I got piece of mind (and the ability to turn off my own CEL light). The software (and cable) will also give you the fault code so you know what caused it. Nothing fancy (or expensive it just works). Not trying to sell the stuff... just a happy customer. www.obd-2.com"

Well, the Porsche PST2 can certainly do a lot more than the aftermarket OBD2 products can... but then the Porsche PST2 is $8000 (to independent shops) and yearly software upgrades run another $2500.

So for $125 I have some software (and a cable) that runs on my laptop and can diagnose most common problems and readout settings and current information from several of the controllers in my car. You can also do a realtime trace of significant signals to see what mods and adjustments do to load, coolant temps, oxygen sensors etc. I don't think these tools are for everyone but if you want some of the functionality your dealer has but for less than $10,000 this might be a good buy.

i just bought a obd2 scanner and it is nice unit. you can monitor the engine, such as rpm, maf, coolent temp and even long and short term fuel trim and much more. www.autoxray.com i got mine from jeg's high performance and mine is made to work with obd2 cars. i even use it to tune piggy bed in my race car. long story in tuning but it's great unit.
