Fuel gauge issue
I'm assuming that my sending unit needs replacing BUT I wanted to see if this was a known issue or an isoltated one.
When I fill up the car it reads 1/8 tank low (never registers full) and when the fuel light comes on, I have only gone about 220-230 miles. My MPG display says I'm getting 21.5mpg so something is up.
How big is the fuel tank on the 99' C2? I don't have my owners manual in front of me.

I just read last night in the manual that if the battery is disconnected when the tank is below a certain level, the guage and sender need to be recalibrated. Could this have happened to you in the past and now you need this recalibration? I can't remember how it is done as this was not what I was looking for but it is in the book and it was a user funtion to calibrate I think.
It struck me reading your post this could be related to your problem.

Hi Nick,
The other day I had a similar "fill-up" where the needle didn't go all the way to full. I normally hold the nozzle while I fill because the "hooking lip" doesn't feel all that secure. The one time I let it fill on it's own (just hanging off the car) I ended up with this incomplete fill. Yesterday I did the normal method of holding it and it resulted in a full needle.
I have a feeling the way the nozzle sits in the filler when hanging on it's own has something to do with catching bubbles or splash much earlier than necessary.
Try it! Good luck.
Andy

I'll try that though and see what happens.
Andy U...I filled up yesterday and when the nozzle clicked off, I pulled it out a bit and put about another gallon or so in. Got back in the car and started her up but it still did not read full.
The reading was higher than it ever has been but it was still a little off. I have an appointment for next tuesday but now I'm wondering if I should just leave it alone or let them see if the sending unit or something else is wrong?
In any case, your solution did work to a certain degree so thanks!
