Restart after stall clanking
Hi
Accidentally maybe once every six months, I stall the engine on tight space maneuvering. Every time, it makes this really hard mechanical clanking when I crank and it seems to catch slightly slower than normal. It never happens otherwise, cold, warm restart - no issues, only when stalling.
Always thought about it as a "personality" on my particular vehicle however just researched it and realise Im not alone...e.g.

Anyone ever found the solution? The noise is so horrible I dread stalling to the point I probably will get half or less of clutch mileage...

Happened to me once, and I agree that noise is brutal. not sure what the issue is but just don't let it happen again. I only stalled because my pressure plate was on it's way our and the sweet spot for engagement was gone making it much more difficult to take off from a stop.

Really only a few have had it and noone knows of root cause or resolution? People, go out amd stall your cars, lets see if its a design flaw or unusual error.

Happened to me a couple months ago after stopping the car for a few minutes, and then restarting (like when running into the store to get something.) Really horrible sound, I cringe every time I start the car warm now hoping it doesn't happen again... No idea what the cause is.

Been thinking some about this, will try and replace the cam chain tensioners. There seems to be two of them on each bank, one easily accessible from below and the other I guess from the top somewhere...I suspect AC compressor has to come out.
Will give it a try at some point, maybe after summer season is over.
If it makes a difference, I'll report back here.
