@%#!! cup holder
The $1.72 cup holder Porsche installed in my '04 Carrera worked when it wanted to, being bashful and not swinging out for days on end. I finally took it into the dealer for the $300+ replacement. The mechanic there showed me a trick: with thumb and forefinger, apply pressure althernately to each end, rocking the cup holder arm gently back and forth. The arm swings out (almost) instantly. Every time.

I recently gave away my spare ultimate cup holder - otherwise, I'd send it to you. Holds any size drink, doesn't hold them above expensive electronics, and costs a whopping 25 bucks.

Thanks Dave Fox for the tip! I rarely use the cupholder but I need it to work when I do use it. Mine right now is "stuck" and hibernating. I will thumb and finger it like you suggested. Oh my....that didn't come out right.......

I bought my car (2003 C2) last year and has similar headlights and bumper. D. Fox - do you know where you got the treatment and aero or who the manufacturer was ? Is it factory Porsche ? I dont think mine is. Just started to DE and no place in the bumper to screw in the tow hook, but also trying to learn a bit more about what I do / dont have and what done to the car. My build codes say that the rear spoiler is factory, but I'm virtually certain my front and rear bumpers, as well as the headlight treatment, are aftermarket.

In response: I'd never put a cup in the cup holder. I'm a North Carolinian. So it naturally holds cans of Cheerwine, with the level partly drunk down to avoid spills. My paint & body man repainted a silver detachable hardtop body color recently. I'm one of those who don't like 996 headlamps. He prepped and painted the headlamp lenses body color, too. I like the effect. A lot. Others' mileage may vary. In July, the paint thoroughly cured, I'll have a plastic anti-stone coating applied. Front end is stock.
