Default Thoughts on Plasti Dipping Wheels

My 2002 Seal Grey Targa has the silver painted Carrera Lightweight wheels. Last summer after a flat tire I was forced to mount the temporary spare which is painted red. It may sound odd but I kind of liked the way the red wheel added some pop to the overall restrained look of my Seal Grey paint. I've been considering buying a case of Plasti Dip paint and spraying my wheels a contrasting color. I figure worse case scenario is I peel it off and I'm out $40 bucks. Anyone seen any Rennlisters with Plasti Dipped wheels out there?

Plasti-dipped my air intakes almost a year ago and going strong.
Stuff is great, no chips, no fading and looks like day I applied it.

I thought about doing the same thing last year. I bought the plasti dip paint rattle cans but decided not to do it, as the paint was for track wheels. It can be a high heat application and I wasn't comfortable with this stuff near hot brake calipers and rotors. Also, track rubber bits get stuck to the wheels and didn't think it would hold up. However, for the street, if you have a steady and and are patient with the application, sure could add some "pop." Let us know what you decide and how it turns out of you do it.........the stuff sure peals off real easy.

I'm also considering plasti-dip my GT3 wheels in gun-metal dark grey color but I decided to first practice on my wife 13 yr old BMW 325I 16" wheels and they came out pretty nice in matte black. it changed the whole car personality from boring to aggressive look. I knew that I can easily peel off the paint and get back the oem look. I only used 1 can of paint for about $10. I applied 5 thin coats on each wheel. So far the paint fare well to road debris, dirt, rocks, water, brake dust or heat etc... people are painting their whole car in PlastiDip, check out YouTube. For the GT3 wheels I probably need 2 or 3 cans of paint but it's pretty easy to paint...

My winter DD has really scratched up winter wheels, haven't tried it yet but seems a no brainer vs re powder coating them, worth a try

13 months later and my wheels and side vents still look like day 1
No chips, fading...nothing.

No current pic, so you'll just have to take my word.
This was November, I think.

I did my Sons Boxster with plastidip and it works great, I used the finishing coat on top, it is like a clear and gives a bit more of a finished semi gloss look, just touch it up with a bit of 303 or other similar product and they come out nice

I did the OEM wheels on my C4S and it looked great. I used three cans for 4 wheels. I also painted the lower grill on my C2 with it recently because the plastic was turning that gray color that old trim likes to turn.
