Default Hacked my mufflers this weekend

Hacked our own mufflers this weekend, wanted mild, not hot, so we did the rev one mod using 2" tube. Install took all of 2 hours once the welding was done (I did cheat by hacking a spare set of mufflers before taking ours off )

Couldn't be happier with the results.

Extra credit for doing your own welding...

I did the same thing this weekend. In retrospect, I should have done it the other way, because the change in tone is barely noticeable.

What do you mean the other way?

I recently did it the Fister D way, Holy Cow best sound ever. Well other than a big block Chevy.

I imagine he means directly connecting the two existing pipes instead of opening and connecting the spare knockout on the muffler.

The one Schnell showed, which is also the latest way from Fister.

If by "better" you mean louder/more aggressive, the direction connection of the two pipes is the better of the two. It seems to be the most popular by far.

Hey John,
I'm also a Carolina Region PCA member. Come on down to our monthly meeting at Quaker Steak & Lube in Greenville, SC on April 7 starting at 6:30 pm. I did the fister mod. It'll be a good chance to see the difference between the two. I'll buy the beer.

We've had our experience with too loud mufflers, thus we went the mild route and are happy with it.

John
What were the too loud mufflers you used? I have the gemballa cans hacked fister style and they are still not loud enough for my taste. Looking for something more aggressive.

^^^^ Get some muffler bypass pipes and if that's not enough, remove the catalytics.

My too loud was a B&B 3" out muffler on my 84 Carrera, had a terrible drone at 2500-3000, ears rang after driving.

A good friend has muffler bypass pipes on his racecar, sound awesome.
