Screech sound
#17
The sounds comes and goes. But I had my brother sitting in the car this past week and it sounds like the sound is coming from the rear and more specifically from the rear wheels... Possibly the calipers sticking?
The sound tends to come when the car is warm, but it's very random. And trying to recreate it is very hard.

Old thread, but I'm having the same issue.
Did the belt replacement fix it? Mine sounds like it's coming from the front right wheel but maybe my ears are messed up. It sounds the same as you describe, and although it could be the belt it feels more likely to be calipers. It's not a real belt howl.

I have a similar sound on my 2003 C4S. I can actually make it happen at will and not at will. I'm fairly certain it's something to do with the clutch right as it starts to grab.
If I sort of launch the car ( I never really launch the car but a somewhat instant start) with very little throttle but lot's of clutch bite then I hear the screech for about a half second. If I give it normal revs and ever so slightly ride the clutch and pull off the line slowly then no screech. I don't think it's anything bad with the clutch though.
