Default update on my c2

Went to check out the car. I have to get an estimate for the police and while conferring with the person there just by looking at it without getting into it he said it would be 20k at least and prob. 10 weeks to fix if they don't just total it which he seemed was almost a sure thing. I have also tracked down the lady who hit and ran me after some detective work so it seems she will be arrested sometime this week or however that works. So things seem to be looking up but who is to say, I am still in pain and driving some crappy honda, nothing against honda's but it's my mother's old car so yeah.

Glad to hear that lady will be off the streets. Hope you'll be feeling better soon. By the way, have you been checked out by your doctor? There's usually a silver lining in every dark cloud. Perhaps we'll see you in '04 C2 soon.

Take Care....

The woman that hit you and her insurance company need to know that you are going pursue this to the fullest extent of the law if you are not made whole.

The law is going to take care of that lady, the car will likely get totaled instead of just tried to be fixed... glad to hear that

Keep us posted on how things go. I'm sure I not the only one here that feels tottally identified with you on this.

SPR. I had an indecent in my BMW about a year and a half ago. I got hit in the side rear by a car which spun me around across 4 lanes and later got hit broadside by a truck. My wife and I were okay, thank god.

I had the tow truck take my car directly to the BMW dealer and the estimate came in around $15k when all was said and done. The car was in the shop for a good 8-10 weeks. In the meantime I was thinking about trading the car in for an M5. MAke a long story short, the dealer wanted to give me about $10k less then the book value because the car was in an accident. When I heard this I went through the roof. HE I was giving then $15K in repair work and they were trying to take $10k off the trade in value. We'll the car was fixed, looked great but I refused to accept it. It is the insurance companies irresponsibility to bring it back to it's "PRE Loss Condition. I argued with BMW for a few weeks as my car sat on the lot. Insurance company was actually on my side and instructed me to leave it there. My argument was that the car was not restored to pre loss condition if the trade in value was $10k under the book value. After a few weeks, my insurance company actually sent me a check for $10k.

Just something to think about as you get your car fixed. HAve a Porsche dealer do the work and talk with the Sales guys about trading in on an 03 or 04 and see what they say. You want to make sure you're car is worth the same amount had it not been in the accident. It's a hard case to win, but worth a shot since it wasn't your fault. Just my $0.02

Wow that is the first that I have heard of being compensated for basically diminished value. Good advice thanks all. I will let you know how things go.
