Default sport exhaust (option XLF) - with backwards button?

I am close to buying a car I just test drove. One concern is the sport exhaust. I was surprised that when I push the sport exhaust button and the light comes on, the exhaust is quiet. And when I push the button so that the light goes out, the exhaust is loud. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

(If this is indeed backwards, I'd consider it a clue that the exhaust was reinstalled or replaced, in which case I'd worry that it might have been necessary due to an accident.)

Many thanks for confirmation/explanation re. how the button should work!

I think it's supposed to be that way... but I don't have PSE, so I'm not entirely sure.

Default PSE

That is the way the PSE works...light on....quiet...light off loud...you can do a hack to the relay to make the sound really good @ lower RPM/Speed.

Yes, that's the way PSE works on my C4S.

Just leave it loud, that's the only way to drive it. Love this option in mine.

It's working correctly. On the 996, default is PSE on. Pressing the button turns it off. On the 997, Porsche changed it around to default to OFF...which I think sucks.

+1 My favorite option is the PSE. Leave the light off always!

PSE is the best. Porsche engineers were geniuses to have the default be "on".
