I own a 996 C2, and drove the new Boxster, the 991 Carrera and 991 Carrera 2S at a Porsche Experience at Silverstone (England).

The 991 is better in every single way over the 996 and 997, however each bit is only a little bit better. A little bit faster, Handled a bit better, Sounded a bit better etc..

If I had the money I would certainly change to a 991, but I came away from that track day feeling even better about owning my 996.

I've only driven a 991 once (C4S), so take my post with a grain of salt. For a car that I only drive 4,000 miles a year, I'd stick with the 996 TT. It's a more involving car with significantly more feedback (steering and suspension) and sensation overall.

I'd consider a 997, in particular one of the GT3 variants (or even the turbo), before a 991 for a car that is used on such a limited basis. Just my $.02.

Prolly hold on the the turbo. Values are stable. 991's will only drop from here. Just my thoughts though?

From a purely financial standpoint, it makes no sense to get the 991 if you only put a couple thousand miles on it a year. The 991 will plummet in value over the next couple years, and with as much as you'll drive it, your mileage per dollar spent ratio will be very high. Also, if your Turbo is in good condition, you could very well be sitting on an appreciating asset considering how little you drive it and the fact that the 996 TT cars are well regarded, even by the 996 haters.

So, I am currently married to Sofia Vergara. I don't make love to her often, about once a year...but I am thinking that I should divorce Sofia and marry Eva Mendez. I know I will probably be making love to Eva just as often as I do to Sofia. Do you think I will be happy?

No man sad ever. Yet I am reading the car version of that ^^ here.

I'm more of a Scarlett Johansson/Natalie Portman kind of guy, but I like your comparison.

I think the comparison should be flipped as Eva has been on the scene(at least in the US) longer tha Sophia so technically Eva would be the older model here. Anyone remember her as an extra in one of Will Smith's rap videos back in the day?

Natalie as fine as she is, would make me feel like a child molester after watching her in "the professional" when it actually came out.
